W & Y Homes Co Team – 2013 Year in Review

2013 was an incredible year for the W & Y Homes Co. Team and we spent a lot of time evaluating what is really important, creating some new systems and ideas, as well adding new team members. As we enter into 2014 we reflect back to some of the events that shaped our year.

We got the opportunity to participate in 99 Real Estate Transactions and were lucky enough to work with some really incredible and amazing new and repeat clients.

We participated in a couple of courses to refine our skills including Brian Buffini training and the Team Leader program through Coldwell Banker where we learned effective time management in a Team Environment.

In June we had the pleasure of having Amelita Altments join our team as our Administrative Assistant and Client Care Representative. Having lived all over the world and a Real Estate Agent in her native home of New Zealand, Amelita has become a valuable part of the W&Y Homes Co. Team.

In August we raised over $400 at our annual BBQ to raise money for Toronto Animal Services and Homer had a lot of fun getting attention from everyone

We expanded our Client Concierge program where all of our listings now include Cleaning, Staging, Professional Photography, Home Inspection, Full Marketing Campaigns, Open Houses  and our 24hr/ 7 days a week availability guarantee. We also stayed true to our 100% satisfaction guarantee.

When we realized that we were bombarded with leasing requests that we could no longer manage we were lucky to find Genevieve Soucy who joined our team as a Leasing Agent in October. Genevieve has been on fire since the day she walked in the door and anyone that gets an opportunity to work with her is very lucky.

During November and December, we held our annual Holiday Food Drive for the Daily Food Bank and with the help of the Liberty Village Community we were able to more then double our donations from 2012 to over 2000lbs of food

We tested new marketing systems to get the maximum price for all of our listings including videos and social media campaigns.

The market was not always easy and at times we wished we had a crystal ball to predict what could happen. We participated in numerous bidding wars and had one listing sell for 120% of asking price. We also had to encounter the harsh reality that some condos were selling for the same price or even less then the seller had purchased them for.

In October we held a successful First Time Homebuyer and Investing in Real Estate Seminar with mortgage broker Gianina Kumar.

We work with a lot of clients looking to expand their Real Estate portfolios and we also got an opportunity to purchase our own investment properties.

We were featured in a few news publications including Toronto Life, Snapd Downtown Toronto and Insidetoronto.com.

With the help of Rebecca Mountain we were able to expand our Social Media presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Youtube and now have over 600 Facebook followers.

There were a lot of 15 hour days and we took the opportunity to revitalize with some vacations. April spent a few weekends throughout the States and had a family vacation in Jamaica. Kevin spent some time in Florida, Alberta and BC. Amelita visited San Francisco and Texas.

Our new website is almost finished and will be launching in the next few weeks and one of the new exciting features will be an advanced property search function.

Continuing to expand our online presence with new features such as Video Blogs and Podcasts.

We will continue to hold our Animal Service and Daily Bread Food Bank fundraisers but will also provide more community events.

We are excited to attend two Real Estate Conferences this year to expand our network of agents not only in Canada but throughout North America.

There will be a lot more seminars happening throughout the year. Some will be held in our office and others will be held online to make it easier for those that cannot attend.

Finally, we are getting some long overdue new portraits of our team in March.

As we speak our Liberty Village office is being painted and redecorated. Stop by for a coffee to have a look.
