Forest Hill is considered one of the most prestigious areas in Toronto.
Forest Hill is considered one of the most prestigious and prominent areas in Toronto, with mansions that situated in the lower part of the neighbourhood rivalling those in Rosedale. The topography in Forest Hill is quite impressive, and features gentle rolling hills, scenic winding roads, and many pretty little parkettes, all of which add charm to the community.
The homes in Forest Hill are among the most expensive in Toronto, and start in the $800’s at the lower end of the price range. The old building codes in the neighbourhood from the early 1900’s stipulated that all homes being built required an architectural design and a tree planted in the front lawn. Such bylaws helped Forest Hill become the pretty neighbourhood that it is today, with its stone and brick mansion shaded by towering trees.
In the Upper Village are homes that were constructed mainly during the mid-1900’s, and are more unassuming compared to the Lower Village homes, though the lot sizes are quite large. A number of luxury condominium buildings are also available in Forest Hill, and are located on the west side of Spadina.
Residents can enjoy a pleasant shopping experience in the Forest Hill Village shopping district located at Spadina Rd
and Lonsdale Rd. This area offers shoppers more of a small town shopping experience, with shops that cater specifically
to the needs of the area’s prominent locals.
Residents can also shop the Eglinton West Village that features a number of shops to suit all budgets and tastes,
and also offers many restaurants and food shops.
Fitness and nature enthusiasts can stay active along the Belt Line fitness and nature trail, a 14.5 km track that passes
through Forest Hill while heading to Rosedale.
Forest Hill's schools are considered among the best in Canada, and include:
Forest Hill Junior & Senior Public School
Upper Canada College for boys
Bishop Strachan School for girls
There are a number of bus routes within Forest Hill that quickly connect commuters to the subway line, including the Bloor and Spading lines. Motorists have the Allen Expressway at their disposal, which can take them to major routes, including Highway 401 and the Don Valley Parkway.
